Trivet, 6.25 inches diameter (15.9cm). Black transfer. Unknown maker, but possibly by William Wood & Co. of Burslem (c. 1873-1932). The Rd. No. dates the registration of this pattern to 1886, the year before Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887, which marked the 50 year anniversary of her ascension to the British throne. This pattern features an elaborate oval frame with a portrait of Queen Victoria. The portrait is surrounded by the royal heraldic plant symbols for England, Northern Ireland, and Scotland: the Tudor rose, shamrock, and thistle.
