Plate, 8.5 inches diameter. Brown transfer. Printed maker's mark for Moore & Co. The center of the plate holds a bird in flight. A bird on a flowering hawthorn branch looks on. Thorny berry branches with fruit and blossoms surround the images, with two butterflies hovering.

Moore & Co. was an earthenware and majolica manufacturer at the Old Foley Pottery in Longton, Staffordshire, England. The partners were Thomas Cartlich Moore, Thomas Bickley, Robert Leason, and Rosellia Taylor. Bickey retired in November 1889 and the company became Moore, Leason & Co.
