Plate, 10.5 inches diameter. Brown transfer with polychrome clobbering and gilding. Impressed maker's mark for Gildea & Walker. This pattern features water lily flowers and pads in the water surrounded by a band filled with alternating segments of diagonal lines and simple gilded lines An identical band appears around the rim and both bands are connected by spokes filled with gilded lines. Between the spokes are panels featuring three different kinds of flowers, including prunus blossoms and orchids.

In 1878 James Gildea joined the partnership of Bates & Walker. In 1881 Bates left the partnership and Gildea & Walker continued together. In 1885 James Gildea continued the business alone.
