Platter, 14.25 x 12.5 inches. Black transfer with polychrome clobbering. Printed maker's mark for Powell & Bishop. Red painted pattern number 9330/D. This stylized floral pattern features a central medallion bordered with scallops and filled with floral tendrils. A larger scalloped medallion bordered with additional floral tendrils decorates the rim. The border consists of a solid blue line.
Powell & Bishop was founded in 1851 as Livesley, Powell & Co. In 1860 Livesley left the business and was renamed Powell & Bishop in 1867. Mr. Frederic Bishop and Mr. James Watson Bishop were the partners.
