Plate, 9.75 inches diameter. Black transfer. Printed maker's mark for Whittaker, Edge & Co. The registry diamond dates this pattern to 4 October 1883. The "Atlantic" pattern features a strip of four scenic cartouches, which spans the diameter of the plate. From left to right, the cartouches depict a duck in water, a sheep resting in a meadow, a sailboat on a lake, and a cow standing in a pasture. Flowers and buds on leafy stems frame the top and bottom of the cartouche strip in mirror form.
