Pitcher, 7 inches tall. Black with polychrome clobbering and luster overglaze. The Edge, Malkin & Co. greyhound mark is different in this "Argyle" pattern series because the pattern name appears in the ribbon where the initials E.M.& Co. are usually put. In the mark for the chamber pot in the additional image slot, the word "Yeddo" is placed below the mark where the pattern name is found on most of the other E.M.& Co. named patterns. “Argyle” refers to the body shape and “Yeddo” is the pattern name. The “Argyle” shape seems to consist of a bulbous base with a belt and buckle wrapped around it. The finials and handles resemble a cable or length of rope.

Yeddo was the name used for Tokyo, Japan before 1868 when the latter name was adopted. The Registry Diamond indicates a date of 29 September 1879. The pattern features a cartouche with a geisha looking into her mirror on one side and the other features a cartouche with a sailing ship. Behind that is a small bouquet of flowers. The front of the pitcher features a round cartouche infilled with pinwheel flowers and backed by seaweed.

The partners were Joseph Edge, William Millett Edge, John Wilcox Edge, and James Malkin. In 1892 John Wilcox Edge retired from the business. In 1893 James Malkin retired and William Spencer Millett Edge joined the business. In 1894 Sydney Malkin left the partnership and the business was continued by the Edge family alone - the name Edge, Malkin & Co was continued. By 1902 the business was bankrupt and went into voluntary liquidation. S. Webster Dean (who was the chairman of Edge, Malkin & Co.) continued the business until 1910.
