The Individual Artists Fellowship (IAF) program recognizes Performing Arts in 2026. Choreographers should apply using this form. For their exemplary, originating music or sound work, IAF recipients earn public recognition and a monetary award according to the merit of their work by out-of-state jurors. The panel consists of three out-of-state, leading arts professionals in the music or sound field. The Individual Artist Fellowship program rotates annually, highlighting different artistic disciplines each year.

The Individual Artist Fellowship program recognizes artists in Nebraska. Fellowship recipients are chosen by a professional panel according to the merit of their work. The awarded funds, between $1000 and $5000, must be used for the creation of new art, presentations, training, and/or research. The fellowship program rotates among three umbrella categories of artistic achievement: literature (fiction, non-fiction, poetry); filmmaking and performing arts (choreography, playwriting, composition, interdisciplinary performance); and visual arts (painting/drawing, photography, ceramics, installation, mixed media, printmaking, glass, sculpture, textiles, video).Eligibility Criteria:
To apply and receive the award, Artists must:
- reside in Nebraska for the two years prior to the application deadline; reside in Nebraska during the fellowship award year; and submit a corresponding residency attestation form, if awarded.
- be 19 years or older and not be enrolled in an undergraduate program within the field which they are applying. Applicants may be enrolled in graduate or certificate-granting program in the artistic field in which the application is being made, the strength of the portfolio outside the graduate or certificate-granting program will be assessed.
- be the originator of submitted work, not an interpreter of others’ work.
Previous recipients may reapply and are eligible if submitted work was not previously a part of a winning application and the final report is completed. The final report must be received at the completion of the fellowship year.
