Exhibited at Hillsborough Cup-a-Joe in October, 2012, Backyard Play featured eight paintings of the artist’s backyard. Each painting includes a view of a particular pine and/or dogwood along the garden creek. To highlight that the paintings had an enduring connection to each other, even when they would eventually find separate homes, the artist created a puzzle with the series. Each painting included embedded text - the painting titles - that could be combined to assemble a quote from the classic movie, Wizard of Oz: “If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own backyard."
"Again" is currently available, otherwise all the Backyard Play paintings are in private collections.
