Place | Mind | Spirit II from Susan Moldenhauer

For more than 20 years, the landscape has inspired and grounded my photographic work. Seeking synchronistic, transformative moments when the earth, sky, wind, and human presence are one, the images are made in one exposure—a performance in the landscape—captured on color film, scanned and printed digitally in black and white.

In 2006, Margaret Wilson, an extraordinary dancer, choreographer, professor, and friend joined me in dancing in the wind with fabrics. With my camera on a tripod, I identified the boundaries for Margaret to move in, responding to the land, the wind, and the light.
