This tryptic explores the physical and metaphorical spaces between people, places, and layers of paper and ink. On each of the three wood panels, fragments of paper push and pull while transparent ink with pearlescent powder grounds us with the text “Space Between Us” - this is only legible when the light reflects off the print's surface. To achieve this, historic wood typefaces were laser cut in 1/8” plywood and then mounted on a lower-than-type high surface so the panel could fit safely in the proof press.
