Through creating a paper kitchen by casting pulp onto measuring cups, the functionality of familiar objects can become alienated through chosen materiality. By creating replicas of kitchen object, but taking away its functional purpose, the paper copies become a kind of memorial, or ghost, for the items they represent. Like figurative sculptures of prominent dead people, the paper objects can only stand in for, but never replace, the things they are referencing. Instead, they become vessels for nostalgia and remembrance, demonstrating a reverential appreciation for their role in our daily lives.
