Spring 2017 – The Awakening of Self
In the spring of 2017, Bali called me once more—this time with an invitation to a four-week art retreat at Svarga Loka Resort in Ubud. It was an offering of silence, solitude, and space to allow what was ready to be born to emerge fully. What unfolded was a deeply transformative month filled with insight and spiritual awakening.
During this sacred time, I created 19 works of art. Yet beyond the tangible, a deeper process began: a profound work in progress that invited me into an extraordinary inner journey—one that reconnected me with my Self on an essential, soul-deep level.
Svarga Loka, set in the heart of Bali’s lush, subtropical jungle, became both sanctuary and teacher. It was here that I was challenged to stop, to let go, and to look inward—to face my essence, to release past attachments, and to begin a process of liberation. This space became the ground for a spiritual awakening—an awakening of Self.
From this transformative experience, two key works emerged: I AM and LOVE IS. These are not only artworks but also testaments to a state of consciousness. The phrase “I AM” embodies a state of awareness—an infinite space, a connection to the Divine within.
The creative process became a form of devotion—an alignment with my higher Self, through which I became one with the cosmos. This journey was not only unusual but also profoundly meaningful. The art that resulted is a reflection of that internal expansion—of being in the presence of the universe while fully present with myself.
