Named after Aldous Huxley’s 1928 novel—which borrows its title from the musical technique of contrapuntal composition—Point Counter Point investigates the tension between order, variation, and depersonalised abstraction. The series treats sculptural abstraction not as a mystical gesture but as a systematic dissection: zooming in to isolate constituent mechanical forms while simultaneously zooming out to expose underlying structural patterns within seemingly chaotic relationships.
Constructed from industrial iron components coated in vibrant polyurethane finishes, the 4 sculptures feature parallel, bent-pipe structures mounted directly to the wall. Like individual voices in a musical counterpoint, each coloured segment responds to, offsets, or mirrors its neighbour. By recontextualising functional architectural hardware into high-gloss, spatial compositions, Point Counter Point confronts human perception, bridging the gap between individual components and the broader overarching system.
