Gridlines investigates repetitive spatial cadences, industrial geometry, and colour progression within the gallery environment. The series directly engages with Donald Judd’s iconic wall-mounted "Stacks" and Liam Gillick’s architectural colour structures, translating minimalist industrial logic into precise, horizontal wall installations.
Each of the 4 sculptures consists of systematically arranged, uniform horizontal bars mounted at fixed intervals. Through nuanced tonal gradations and industrial surface finishes across each stack, the works activate the negative space between the elements, incorporating wall and shadow as integral compositional components. Gridlines redefines spatial boundaries, transforming the wall into an active grid where colour, proportion, and institutional space intersect.
