My intention, to spark personal recollections in the viewer from an unconventional perspective, moving pigments that are suspended, extracting pigments, manipulating the smallest pigments creating layers of transparent colour, playing on depth with slight transitions to add complexity and mystery within the surface, leaving a translucent history. Some unseen solid layers and some layers seeing right through to the first brush stroke.
I do not want to recreate an exact replica of mountains but using strong, bold and unexpected colours, using the shadows, the highlights of snow and creases within the mountains creating a representation, a feel and essence of a mountain. Something similar to the mountains when their beauty has touched your soul!
