Morrison’s creative mission is to create a place for being throughout both the process and the viewing experience. Her latest collection of work is not concerned with what art is, but rather what art does. When we immerse ourselves in the viewing experience, we are making a bold claim that we deserve to be still, to be filled with wonder, and to experience the magic that we once knew but somehow forgot. Morrison’s paintings are a reminder that a single brush-stroke can transcend thought, and create a S-P-A-C-E of its own. One that leaves us standing somewhere in between. Each panel is a collaboration between spirit and logic. A playground for the curious mind to explore the surface and negotiate with “otherness”. Her performative layering and excavation processes reveal a rich history of perfect imperfection that gives endless depth to the two-dimensional surface. Through her work she encourages us to embrace the unknown parts of ourselves, the inner child that often nudges but gets placed back inside a tightly bound box. The experience in viewing her work affirms our own inherent value. The part of us that craves stillness, presence and our own place for being.
