This artwork was inspired by the symbols that I painted on top of the coffin sculpture titled Through Grief we Transform. In my art practice circles show up over and over again. They represent healing and integration to me. A sense of wholeness that leaves us experiencing joy and contentment. I loved combining this symbol in a sculptural form with machine stitched calico creating a flower shape. I've been longing to work sculpturally with calico for years, so it is a relief to finally tentatively explore its possibilities.
