This large wall hanging was created in three stages. The first stage was the body of the work, depicting Goddess Nut overarching the world, with the Tree of Life to her right and the symbols from my first significant dream in December 2020. This first stage was painted on unstretched canvas stapled to my studio wall.
The second stage was to create the snake-skin like piece of painting on raw canvas, that was then pleated to form a decorative fringe and sewn to the body of the work.
The third stage was inspired by a second significant dream where symbols of my cat, spinal column and death were depicted. They were then sewn into one whole work, performing an act of integration of the three stages of the pandemic. I had a third significant dream on Feb 15th 2023 which appears to indicate a sense of reintegration and healing has taken place.
