During the pandemic my body ceased up due to stress. I could hardly sit down due to pain in my glute muscles. It was coming from my pelvic floor which had closed up from fear. As the pandemic progressed, my amazing osteopath Laurence from Good Self in Kyneton helped my body to feel safe enough again to release its tension, leaving me pain-free. By the end of 2022 she described my body as "free and open to the world". I named this artwork after her as on its side it reminds me of a women's pelvis floor and the sensitivity we have to what is happening externally. My body was able to show me how much I had let go as the pandemic progressed and we were no longer so fearful as a society.
This unique artwork is painted on all sides. I created the middle section depicted here in response to my first significant dream from December 2020 where I had an intimate encounter with a snake. it also references my second significant dream of the dying sphynx.
The front was completed on New year's Eve 2022 and the back on New Years Day 2023. There was a sense of processing and transition through making this symbolic work.
