Available Works brings together a curated selection of original paintings from across Gaia Starace's multidisciplinary practice. Inspired by the Australian landscape and informed by her background in architecture and fine art, the works explore memory, materiality, and place through abstraction.
Created through an intuitive process of layering, experimentation, and play, Gaia works across acrylic, charcoal, ink, oil paint, oil pastels, and graphite, combining expressive brushwork with bold gestural lines and recurring freehand drawings. Architectural forms, amphorae, and fragments of landscape emerge as intuitive motifs, creating compositions that sit between memory, landscape, and imagination. This Private Room presents a selection from her ongoing studio practice, including works developed for exhibitions, site specific projects, and private collections.
Conceived as enduring elements of interior space, the paintings invite quiet contemplation within residential, commercial, and hospitality environments.
About the Artist
Gaia Starace is an Australian-Italian multidisciplinary artist, architect, interior designer, and Interior Design lecturer at TAFE NSW, based in Sydney. Holding a Bachelor of Architecture from La Sapienza University of Rome and a Master of Fine Art from UNSW Art & Design, her practice moves fluidly between painting, sculpture, ceramics, interiors, and site-specific installations.
Alongside her independent studio practice, Gaia creates original artworks for her own interior design projects, developing site-responsive collections that become an integral part of the architecture rather than an addition to it. Drawing from the Australian landscape and her Italian heritage, she creates immersive environments where art, architecture, and design become one continuous language.
Commissions
Gaia welcomes commissions for residential, commercial, hospitality, and workplace interiors. Whether created as part of her own interior design projects or in collaboration with architects, designers, and private clients, each artwork is developed in response to the architecture, scale, materiality, and atmosphere of its setting. Commissions range from intimate works to large scale paintings, with colour palettes and compositions thoughtfully tailored to each project.
Fine art prints are available by enquiry in a range of sizes.
