Acquired at the 2011 Winter Park Paint Out -- This painting by Matthew Cornell captures the feel of old rural Florida – a small cabin or shack with a clothes line just outside the door. These structures were often raised up on concrete blocks or short pillars to improve air flow under the house, which kept things cool. It's easy to imagine this cottage on a farm or down a dirt road, with light from a kerosene lamp keeping the dark away.
