"WILD is a sculpture made from metal, wire, and artificial flowers. This sculpture was made to represent the interaction between industrialization and the natural world. The colors chosen for the artificial flowers were deliberate to represent the colors of wild fires which destroy our environment due to the activities of humans and our increased need to inhabit every natural space."

About the artist

Jenna Hissong

Jenna Hissong (b. 2000, Manassas, Virginia) is a multidisciplinary artist working in sculpture, oil painting, and photography. She is currently pursuing a double major in studio arts and psychology at the University of Colorado Boulder, Boulder, Colorado and is set to receive her BA in May of 2023. Hissong explores mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD in her work. She focuses on the human form relating it to these issues by distorting the natural physique. She hopes that her work can bring about a better understanding of mental illness and show that one may live a fulfilling life in conjunction with these challenges.
