"Polyester|1448:1450 was inspired by the tragic loss of the 12-year-old boy Rene Guillen. Due to the rise in violence, Rene's life was taken on April 26, 2003, in the Yards neighborhood. He was mistaken for a rival gang member as he was walking to the corner store on 48th and Laflin. The path where Rene lost his life, is the pathway I take every day, and is the location where many have lost their lives. Due to this heart wrenching fact, I realize our lives are extremely delicate, and can be taken at any moment. Out of respect to my existence and in memory of Rene, I made this piece to commemorate his life."
