Zephaniah Alcala (NUL)

NUL is a self-taught, Detroit-raised artist specializing in vector-based digital designs and abstract concepts. From coast to coast, and continent to continent, NUL has spent over a decade working as part of a broader community of artists and creative people to help foster a global environment in which the creative impulses of any individual can be freely and comfortably explored.

The content of his work is similar to his mindset, continually in a state of flux as he strives to develop a unique and signature style reminiscent of the evolution of his own understanding and openness to the exploration and implementation of different ideas and methods. To do so he currently employs the use of free and open sourced software to produce art which due to the nature of vector graphics is both infinitely scalable and highly portable. He draws influence from many different sources including, but not limited to eastern philosophy and design, graphic design, pop culture, psychedelic experiences and music.

NUL is an avatar. A product of a weaponized global network which has spiraled out of control. A place which was once devoid of identity and dedicated to the free exchange of thoughts and ideas. A remembrance of a bygone era destroyed by convenience, greed, and ego-mania which we may never see again.
