"To Be Held and to Behold" is inspired by the Patrick Morelli statue in Atlanta and Alex Haley's autobiography, "Roots." This artwork explores the importance of parental and spiritual connections. It reflects on the powerful scene of a father lifting and naming his child, as depicted in "Roots." In a world filled with violence, suicide, and lack of ambition, this artwork highlights the need for nurturing these connections, especially for our youth. It serves as a reminder of the love, guidance, and protection that parents provide, as well as the solace and purpose found in spiritual connection.
