The “Urban Wakanda” draws its inspiration from the impactful Marvel movie "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," specifically the powerful final scene where King T'Challa and his sister, Shuri, descend upon a basketball court within a predominantly African American community. This piece emphasizes the crucial act of giving back to one's own community. It also aims to shine a spotlight on the invaluable role of women in STEAM fields, encouraging dialogue and empowerment within black communities to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). It is my hope that this piece ignites a collective recognition that black individuals are not only capable of excelling in these realms, but their active participation is necessary. This piece serves as a catalyst for embracing the fusion of art and technology, stimulating conversations that foster a thriving, inclusive environment for all.
