A lifelong artist, Allison originally studied art education before earning a degree in studio art. She later completed a graduate degree in counseling and has led expressive arts groups for teens and adults. Her teaching experience includes working with individuals with developmental delays and with incarcerated youth, using art as a means to encourage self-expression, confidence, and emotional insight.
Her background in both art and therapy shapes her belief in the value of creativity as a daily practice. She lives and works in Portola Valley, CA, where she maintains an active studio practice.
Statement
Allison P. Kroeger is a mixed media artist whose work focuses on intuitive, process-driven abstraction. Using hand-painted collage papers, drawing materials, and layered mark-making, she creates compositions that explore the relationship between thought, emotion, and perception. Relying heavily on the Principles and Elements of Design, Allison seeks to create a visual language in abstracted art forms.
