Rebecca Rutstein is an artist from Philadelphia whose environment-oriented work has been celebrated internationally for its contributions to climate activism. The painting Caught in a Dream was created in response to the artist’s exploration of underwater terrain near the coast of Iceland. Rutstein uses vibrant shapes and colors to evoke this immersive environment through abstraction. This painting was selected by Villanova students in the Spring 2024 Art Market course, which provided them with an opportunity to shape and build the Villanova University Art Collection by purchasing an artwork of their choice for the collection.
