Overview
The project is the fruit of a personal historical research I did, to celebrate the native Quapaw tribe, that once used to live in the modern time Hot Springs, AR, before they were forced to move to Oklahoma. The mural is about 140 x 42 ft. It's done with acrylic paint on a primed wall, then sealed with anti-graffiti and anti-UV sealer.
Goals
The mural wanted to be in first a beautiful piece of artwork, telling a story at the same time. We wanted the passersby to reflect and know more about the history of the city they now live and visit, and expose them to a past not too far way, often forgotten.
Process
The collaboration was between myself, and sole artist, and the City's Art committee, the historical committee, being the mural inside the historical downtown area, the Hot Springs Cultural Alliance and the National Park Rotary Club, who sponsored the project. The design was slightly modified to better fit the size of the wall, and many additional minor details were honed, during this back and forth process.
