Victoria Johns

INFINITE

It's Showtime!

INFINITE

Step into Victoria's INFINITE world where exploration knows no bounds and her creative output takes many different forms. Allow us to introduce you to Victoria Johns, a Painter and Printmaker, who is inspired to produce artwork exploring the same themes and in two different creative practices.

Victoria's portfolio comes alive with work on paper, board and canvas. She doesn’t like to restrict her practice using one surface or technique, it's important to her to explore a variety of mediums and supports as it keeps her exploration fresh. Whether the source material is a recognisable abstracted landscape as seen from the ground, or an interpretation of what she sees when studying an arial view; invariably she uses the same technique of applying layers of paint or ink using different tools layer by layer and adapting the mark making, bringing together the different shapes, colours, textures to complete a composition.

“Hello and welcome to my exhibition INFINITE

In this show I am continuing my investigation into Aerial Views and Abstracting the Landscape.

Abstract art can be an enigma for some of us! So I’ll try to explain how I approach my practice as an abstract artist.

Looking at the land from above interrupts our brain’s ‘go to’ 3D perspective - flattening out rural & urban landscapes into something less recognisable. Looking at our landscapes from the ground I strip out the background noise by simplifying busy views, then for both areas of source material, I dive into exploring the Shapes, Compositions, Lines, Marks, Positive & Negative spaces and Colour references that are significant/relevant for me.

For this exhibition I have allocated more studio time to my painting practice as this allows me to create larger scale works. I now have the desire to go even BIGGER 😃

Let’s see, watch this space……… “.

I look forward to welcoming you to my show 20-28th July 2024
