"Resilience," my first solo exhibition at Five15Artist Gallery, marks a deeply personal chapter in my artistic journey. After selling my boutique last September, I’ve been able to fully immerse myself in painting, exploring themes of strength, survival, and the abundant beauty in the desert.
The collection centers around the idea of resilience, drawn from the desert landscape. The saguaro cacti, with their scars and marks, serve as powerful symbols of endurance in the face of extreme heat and challenging conditions. In this series, I capture not just the physical beauty of the desert but the quiet strength that lies in its very being.
Additionally, this work reflects the resilience I’ve observed in my own family, particularly through the lens of our Italian heritage, the traditions of fishing, and the deep-rooted Catholic faith that binds us. Through personal portraits of ancestors and the visual language of our shared history, I explore themes of devotion, perseverance, and grace in the face of life’s trials.
Ultimately, my paintings seek to honor both the sacred beauty of the land and the unwavering spirit of family, faith, and tradition that continues to shape who I am.
