The spectacle of thousands of snow geese taking to the sky is well worth seeing. The squawking, flapping and lift off of a multitude of birds creates a churning rolling sky. Yet underneath it all is millennia of instinct, allowing the population to act as one, preventing true pandemonium in the face of apparent chaos. This physical advantage conferred by flying in a group enables the geese to fly farther and longer than any goose alone could. We also find success for our species and our communities while acting as a group. When thousands call out in unison the one united voice can be used to accomplish great things and effect change in our society. Although some may perish, many banding together in the face of adversity will insure the survival of our species and enable us to overcome oppression.
