From the Artist Lu Sherer:
In 1996 we moved to Pratt after my husband and I retired from our respective careers. We found the people very welcoming and it didn’t take me long to get involved in the community. When I was asked to join the committee to create an art museum envisioned by Mimi Filley, I accepted. Little did I know at the time what the finished product would mean to the enrichment of Pratt and the surrounding area. I am proud to have been a part of the planning, building and operation of the Filley as a board member and volunteer. Taking the first oil painting class offered through the museum sparked within me a new found passion. I continue to learn from practice and advice from others in my artistic endeavors.
"The main focus of my paintings are the mountains of Colorado. From looking at the composition of a simple pile of rocks to the grand vista of a mountain range I'm always anxious to put that scene on canvas. I have hiked many an aspen lined trail and always find peace and serenity there. I hope others will find that same calming, peaceful and untroubled effect in this painting. "
