Vera Gutkina
“Painting for me is like a window through which I aspire to express a sense of freedom.”
MessageWe welcome you into the vibrant world of art created by Vera Gutkina — painter, writer, and poet.
Moving fluidly between the figurative and abstract, between impression and expression, Gutkina’s art explores the spirit and matter, intimacy and society.
Vera Gutkina was born in Moscow and immigrated to Israel in 1982. She settled in Jerusalem where she lived until her death at the age of 69. Gutkina studied painting with the renowned artist Vladimir Shtranikh, a student of the great Russian painter Konstantin Korovin.
Here you’ll find a growing archive of her paintings, drawings, writings, exhibitions, and biographical materials. Our aim is to make her legacy accessible to curators, collectors, museums and all who are drawn to her distinctive visual language and creative vision.
