Stations are for Coming and Going by Vanessa Osmon Image: In this specific work, Stations are for Coming and Going, the ideas of impermanence, moving, seasons in life, the family we make and leave, and change are all embodied here. My two subjects are depicted at the historical train station situated on the Hudson River, below the bluff that holds the United States Military Academy. One is a nurse for the Spanish Army; her husband assigned to West Point, and this their last summer. The other spouse, an American like myself, also holds a departure on the horizon. These two women, from different parts of the world, were uprooted and thrown together. Like many military spouses, they made friends that became family, knowing all too well that this station would change.
