Post lockdown walks in nature reserves fed the need for connection to the natural world. Wetland features and inhabitants embody all that was craved for during lockdowns. The marshes provide an environment for their resident birds that many of us would have envied over the past year: they are securely secluded and sheltered, and yet able to fly free on a whim. Oh how we would have loved that combination throughout the past year.
