Gift of Stewart Van Every
Horton described his painting process as a visceral experience, using his fingers and describing painting as “reaching your hand down your throat” to unlock inner feelings. Seeking to find how he really felt, Horton used painting to gain insight into himself and to find meaning in life. This large oil painting, meditative and intense, is mostly white and full of wisps of red and blue. The title evokes a memory, like a feeling of drifting, or perhaps a memory from childhood.
