  • Artist: Rick Horton (American, 1954-1990)

Rick Horton was an American artist and lawyer who experimented with photography, abstract paintings, and delicate collages. He was born in Concord, North Carolina, but spent most of his adult life in Washington D.C. and New York City. Starting out as a photographer, he then transitioned to collage and large oil paintings. Horton described his painting process as a visceral experience, using his fingers and describing painting as “reaching your hand down your throat” to unlock inner feelings.
