Artist statement:
Reliquary memorializes forgotten objects found in the Mojave desert, with text centered around loss, memory, and decay. Items are revealed one by one by unraveling the box structure, concluding with a hazy photograph of the location where the objects were collected. My work reflects on navigation and utility, the reciprocal effects of human beings and our environment, and explores the mysterious, liminal space between our interior consciousness and our surroundings. Reliquary meditates on the question, “how and where is memory held in our bodies, objects and environment?”
