Artist statement:
This area of the southwest has been traversed by peoples of all kinds even before our written histories. For many of us this area holds the potential to see the otherworldly. The hope is that we may glimpse what has only been mentioned in stories and folklore for years, travelers from very, very far afield. The title, a nod to a cowboy song that was once a sailor’s song and thinking about visitors that perhaps long to return home to a place more distant than we can imagine.
