Pam Smilow, who lives between Manhattan and mid-coast Maine, works in the medium of acrylic paint and collage on canvas and paper. She draws heavily on childhood memories, on personal experiences throughout her years and is interested in art that springs from the heart... Nature continues to be one of her biggest sources of inspiration. Her work is abstract but with many recognizable symbols and she relies heavily on intuition. Pam is an out of the box thinker and over decades, has built a prosperous business outside of normal convention. Her network of clients is international and nationwide, from New York to California, Japan to Denmark and beyond. Brought up in the only fully realized Frank Lloyd Wright community outside New York City, daughter of a prominent mid-century modern furniture designer, Smilow sees the room as an extension of her palette and likes to work with architects and interior designers to find the right piece of art to fit a space. That understanding of “place and space” has helped her to be successful, but her art goes way beyond decoration. Her commitment to her soul is uncompromising as she seeks to touch her audience by creating an atmosphere of joy and inspiration.
