Kandy Myny is a mixed media artist living and working in Shelby Township, Michigan. She has been a full-time artist for 15 years. Being a self-taught artist, she has honed her craft through years of experimentation and practice while raising her two children. Her art has taken her across the country as she travels to outdoor art fairs on weekends with her husband and selling her art online.
Kandy is always exploring new ways to create art that evokes feelings of joy and playfulness in her viewers. Her artistic medium is varied, ranging from paint, paper, fabric, ink, found objects, and recycled materials. Each piece she creates is an exploration of color, texture, and composition, with a strong emphasis on layering and depth.
She begins each piece by selecting a background layer of canvas or wood, which she then embellishes using tissue paper, textured papers, or fabric. Kandy uses paint to build upon each layer and uses various papers that are cut or torn into unique shapes. The final product is a happy mixture of materials, where each layer is visible, and patterns and textures subtly peek through.
Her art is characterized by its whimsical nature and often features vibrant colors and playful designs. With her love of gardening and the outdoors, she draws inspiration from the world around her, and often incorporates elements of nature into her work.
She takes great pride in creating a visual narrative that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also emotionally uplifting. Whether it is a vibrant and colorful painting or an intricate collage, each of her pieces has a unique character and personality.
When not creating art, Kandy enjoys gardening, cooking for her family, and hanging out with her two Brittany spaniels. With each piece, she hopes to inspire joy, wonder, and imagination in those who view it.
