I create expressive art that celebrates the strength, beauty, and stories of women.
MessageAn emerging fine-art creator based in Virginia, this artist uses her work to tell stories from the past, present, and future. Raised in a home that nurtured creativity, she was inspired by her mother, a fashion designer in the 1970s who collaborated with revolutionary talents like a young Betsey Johnson. Traveling alongside her mother, she learned about fashion, design, sketching, and the process of bringing drawings to life.
After earning a BFA in Fine Arts and Illustration from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, she worked in the garment industry as a Fashion Illustrator and Designer for women’s clothing and accessories. Her background in the garment industry strongly influences her style, characterized by bold, vibrant colors, experimental textures, and dramatic, dynamic strokes.
Using various mediums such as mixed media collage, acrylic, ink, and gouache, her work captures expressive female forms and vivid emotions. She is particularly passionate about depicting celebrations, rituals, and customs, exploring their connections to women of color and their stories of liberation across the globe.
Statement
"I shine a light on underrepresented women, celebrating their stories, resilience, physical beauty, unique differences, and challenges. The women I paint rise triumphantly from every canvas—gentle yet victorious—no matter how horrific, sorrowful, euphoric, or historic the imagery. Through my art, I evoke emotion: to embrace, provoke thought, spark conversation, inspire action, or even challenge perception."
