Statement
I consider myself (at least in part) a surrealist.
Through my collage work I continue to explore themes of layered memory, time, synchronicity and the mysteries of life.
I feel at ease with the open narratives created by the forced visual relationships that collages produce. Each collage is open to viewer interpretation. The titles provided are often entry points into each piece.
I often work in what I refer to as a “Hybrid” manner initially using traditional analogue techniques that are then photographed or scanned and brought into a digital environment. Each piece is composited and layered… I sometimes go through this cycle several times. Eventually printing them out and mounting them on cradled panels where they are further handworked and augmented and finished with a coat of beeswax polish. I really enjoy the collaboration of working in a digital world after getting my hands dirty! Using my experience as a photographer and designer helps me to assemble my final images. These days I work primarily on my iPhone 15 Pro Max and an iPad Pro.
