Howard Terpning is considered one of the finest Western artists of his generation. Two additional copies of this lithograph are available for purchase to benefit the TMC Healing Art Program.

According to the artist: "The 'Pride of the Cheyenne' are their children, and in this painting I have portrayed a Cheyenne woman proudly holding her baby in a cradleboard. The challenge for me was to include the busy and striking patterns of the baby's cradleboard without distracting from the proud determination shown on the woman's face. I purposely kept the woman's dress simple instead of painting a traditionally elaborate Cheyenne dress."
