Restrictions at the beginning of Covid-19 certainly put a stop of being inspired by places I visit – so instead, I turned to my extensive book collection. 'Nourishment in the Sea' depicts an underwater scene of floating seaweed from my underwater photography book.
The top of the painting is full of watery colours – metallic blue, different shades of aqua, deep prussian blue with touches of green and mustard. The 'seaweed' part of the artwork is a combination of australian yellow green, soft light aquas, deep greens with purple, australian sienna, gold, australian salmon gum as added highlights to the foliage.
Using different painting mediums, I have been able to create wonderful blends of colours that aren't on any colour palette. Please look through the close up of the images to see the myriad of soothing colours in 'Nourishment in the Sea'.
