This piece is informed by the current fate of the polar bear population, where 2/3 of the planet’s polar bears live in the Arctic. Melting ice and warmer water temperatures are affecting their ability to hunt and find prey and are changing their habits by moving closer to human populated areas.
Brighter, cooler colors reference hope; the warmer tones and sharp edges represent them amidst warm temperatures that are melting the ice, reducing their habitat and food sources, and the white, transparent-like pigment I used in their bodies symbolizes how their presence on this planet could just fade away.
