This piece was a reaction to recent news about endangered penguins.
We live in a world full of “noise”. Information overload seeps into our daily lives, often infusing chaos and influencing decisions we think we have under control. We filter stuff we hear to keep some sense of order and ultimately find sanctuary for thoughts.
In order to distill and digest global chaos and literally open up space to breathe within the work and myself, I meticulously draw sections out in a lace-like formation, which not only reveals the tension between fragility and strength, a dichotomy very much reflective of our planet and our relationship with it, but also intersects symbolic culture linking concepts, cultures, objects, and events, which unites our presence across times, emphasizing our need to exist in balance because we need each other.
