Creating awareness of the plights of the North Carolina red wolves.
Between overhunting and habitat depletion, less than 10 are known to survive in the wild.
The shapes within the wolves allude to urban development, where land divisions, mapping, and architecture encroach on all landscapes eliminating natural habitats.
Vibrant colors infuse a sense of optimism reflecting hope rather than a depiction of despair.
The final process of completing my work often involves meticulously organizing symbols that intersect cultures, objects, and events. These clusters represent a quest for balance within both the artwork and my mind amidst global challenges. It is a symbolic journey or a form of universal prayer I embark on to distill the complexities of our world into a hopeful narrative that celebrates harmony and connection.
The symbols in this painting are organized in the shape of the moon, the one thing wolves still have that will never be urbanized.
