At first glance, these luminous rabbits appear playful, almost weightless—figures of innocence suspended in a vibrant, intricate world. But a closer look reveals a quieter tension beneath the surface. Subtle symbols and layered markings point to an unseen reality: animals widely used in laboratory testing, their suffering often hidden behind familiarity and consumer comfort.
This work asks the viewer to move beyond what is immediately visible—to recognize how easily beauty can obscure truth. The vivid palette balances grief with possibility, suggesting that awareness itself is a form of agency. By noticing, questioning, and ultimately choosing differently, we participate in shaping a more compassionate world.
As with much of my practice, the surface is built through the careful placement of symbols that intersect cultures, objects, and moments in time. These clustered elements reflect a search for balance—within the composition and within myself—amid a chaotic world, forming a kind of visual prayer that holds both complexity and hope.
Extending beyond the physical piece, an augmented reality layer reveals a more visceral dimension, emphasizing the distress experienced by rabbits in laboratory environments. Through this expanded lens, the work becomes both reflection and invitation: not just to look, but to truly see.
